Constructed with welded, 18-gauge steel double-walls and 1.5 inches of insulating air space, these cabinets offer superior fire resistance and compliance with NFPA and OSHA regulations. They include a three-point self-latching door system, a 2-inch leakproof sump, and dual vents with integral flame arresters. The built-in grounding connector ensures proper grounding to reduce static buildup. The cabinets feature SpillSlope galvanized steel shelves that direct spills to the back and bottom of the sump, meeting EPA requirements. Highly reflective Haz-Alert warning labels provide visibility under fire conditions or during power outages.

While holding the door open, the user inserts the fusible link, then releases the door slowly. The link catches behind the hinge, creating tension that allows the door to remain open.

The self-closing doors are designed to automatically close, so when working out of the cabinet in the workplace, use the fusible link to prop doors open. If inadvertently left open in case of fire, the link will melt at 165 degrees F, slamming the doors shut to prevent fire from reaching the cabinet contents.

Some states require using safety cabinets with self-closing doors, but not all of them. Since fire codes and regulations can vary by state, choosing a cabinet with self-closing doors is the only way to guarantee compliance with NFPA and IFC codes as well as authorities having jurisdiction.
Justrite flammable safety cabinets are designed to meet NFPA 30 code requirements. All cabinets include dual vents with built-in flame arresters with bungs, usually located on the side of a cabinet: one high and one low. The vents typically accommodate a two-inch NPT threaded rigid steel pipe. Per NFPA, venting is not recommended unless the authority having jurisdiction requires it or if building owners require it for increased health and safety. In such cases, the NFPA standard recommends a thermally actuated damper, such as the Justrite Safe-T-Vent™ Thermally-Actuated Safety Cabinet Vent Damper, as the best way to ensure the performance of a ventilated safety cabinet during a fire.
